Duties & Responsibilities of the Tax Assessor/Collector
The Tax Assessor/Collector serves as the chief revenue generator through collections of taxes and registration of motor vehicles, boat and trailer registration and title transfer. Specific duties include collection of current and delinquent taxes, penalties, interest and other fees for the county and other taxing units, registration of all vehicles. This office is also responsible for registration of all voters in the County.
AUTOMOBILE DEPARTMENT
Automobile, truck, trailer and boat registration and title transfers are done in our office. Applications for handicap parking are available in our office. When the doctor completes these, they are returned to our office for issuance of handicap plates or placards.

Statements are mailed for the current year's taxes the first week of October. If not paid by February 1st of the following year, penalty is added and accrues each month. On July 1st, a 15% attorney's fee is added.
Any exemptions, which could be applied, should be filed with the Burleson County Appraisal District.
Also, any changes in address, ownership or exemptions with appraisals should be reported to that office. Any disagreement with appraisals should also be discussed with that office.

· Where do I apply for property tax exemptions?
979-567-2318 - Homestead, over-65, Disability, and ag exemptions are granted at the Burleson County Appraisal District Address corrections and questions regarding appraisal values should also be directed to the appraisal office.
· Tax Sales Information
Tax Sales are held the first Tuesday of the month, approximately 2 - 3 times per year. Publication of tax sales information may be found in the Burleson County Citizen Tribune three weeks prior to a sale.
